Santa Baby

This was an email I received and posted to the forum simply because of the scammer's amusing choice of name.  I wasn't planning to bait this one - I already had several others running - but one of the other forum members asked me to reply.  I'm glad I did.

Subject: I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YOU

Good day dearest,

How are you today? I hope that you are in a super perfect health. I saw your profile and I was highly satisfied with it. As i understood that age can never be a barrier between true love, what matter's most in any relationship is love. My name is Miss Santa David Thiara, I am single 24 years old from Sierra Leone, West Africa, and presently i am residing in the refugee camp here in Dakar Senegal as a result of the killing of my family by the rebel that took place one early morning, please don't be discourage for hearing this,

My late father Dr, David Thiara was the adviser to the President of My country on Political Matters and a very successful Business man. We had a very happy family that was united with undying love. The brutal killing of my mother and my father, one kid sister and kid brother took place one early morning. We were preparing to celebrate my father's birth day, when the Rebel attacked our home, and killed my parents and every member of my family in cold blood.

It is only me that is alive now and I managed to make my way to the West African state called Senegal where i am leaving now in a refugee camp here in Oakum North, KM 14 Refuseniks Avenue Dakar Senegal through the help of one Reverend Pastor called Ruben James. I was in my second year in the university as a Law student before this incident happened and I ran for my dear life. I will still go back to continue with my education as soon as i am free.

Now, about my hobbies, I like swimming, dancing, cooking, meeting people, going to social activities, and also i like music such as love songs mostly west life song, Elvis Presley and Leonel Richie, R&B, hip up and jazz. I would like to know more about you. Your likes and dislike, your hobbies and what you are doing presently. I will tell you more about myself in my next mail.

Attached here is my pictures, and i will also like to see your pictures. I wait to hear from you soon.

have a nice day

Santa

Santa baby,

You are a very beautiful girl. I am very glad that you do not feel age is a barrier to love as I am a little older than you. My name is Cornelius and I am 82 but I keep myself very fit playing Plonking every day since I retired from my business. I also like Elvis Presley and his big band - I love to dance to his jazz and swing music and I am pleased that you also like to dance. You also cook, which is wonderful. When you come over to be my wife you will be able to cook for me. I hope you also know how to clean? Don't you worry about an education, I am very rich from my business and I will look after you financially.

Please send me more pictures - I would very much like to see you wearing boots and a hat. I think red would suit you very well.

Cornelius P. Tuttle

Plonking was a game "invented" by a friend from my forum as part of the "Luvvly Jubbly" bait.  (Although it turned out that a game called "Plonking the Stikkit" already existed as part of the Nottingham Goose Fair!)

Subject: THIS IS ALL ABOUT ME WITH LOVE AND TRUST

My dearest one,

Thanks for your response to my mail today, I am very happy for your response. Please, my love, I need your help now, as I said before, I'm staying in a refugee camp. This refugee camp is headed by the Reverend Ruben James who I used his office computer to send you this email and only enter his office when he is less busy.

This is the phone No of the Rev.+221 768 679 004. You can also reach me through his phone number when you call tell him you want to talk with Santa Thiara.

My father deposited the sum of U.S. $ 3.5 million (three million five hundred thousand U.S. dollars) in a bank, where he used my name as Santa Thiara as Next of Kin to inherit the money if he finally dies .. Unfortunately, now that he's dead and I inherited the money, they have lost all my family members in the war in my country.

When I arrived Senegal, e-mail I sent to the bank saying that my father is dead. They demanded the death certificate, confirming that my father was dead. So I gave them the certificate as required. They also asked me if I have the original copy of the Certificate of Deposit, I gave them the account information from my dad used to open the bank account. The bank confirmed that the two documents are okay.

The bank said now I have no documents and even bank account where they will transfer the money that I should look for a reliable foreign partner who I trust to get to me as an administrator to receive the money in my name. That's why I contacted you to receive the money for me, that from the money that you can send me some money to get my travel documents to travel to meet you in your country to continue my education.

Or alternatively, if you can help me to get the clearance and Passport Camp to join you and my arrival I'll go straight to the bank to meet them so that they will transfer the money to your bank account.

It is now left for you to choose the option that you prefer to help me. (1). Or agree to represent me on the bank. I can give you contact of the bank and all the information so that you can contact them directly, that they can transfer the money into your bank account. (2). Or to help me come to your country so that i will go to the bank and transfer the money to your bank account.

I promised u 25% of the total sum for your help, if you will help me manage my money in any part of good investment in your country, because I do not know much about business.

Honey these are the reason why I contacted you and I know you will help me get out of this situation. Awaiting your positive response.

Yours
Santa.

Subject: Stop worrying and do as I say my dear

Santa darling,

I have already told you that I am a wealthy man so stop worrying your pretty little head about your father's money, we don't need it. We can sort that out after we are married.

Listen, I'm 82, I don't have time to mess about. I'll send you the money to buy yourself a plane ticket over to London. I don't know the cost of flights any more, so I'll just send you £2,000, do you think that will be sufficient? If you have anything left over you can treat yourself to some shoes and ribbons, I know how you young ladies like those. You will book a flight and give me your arrival details while I arrange a marriage licence.

Do you know what a Sugar Daddy is over there Santa my dear? I will keep you in luxury and give you plenty of pin money to treat yourself with, that is my duty to you, but you have certain duties towards me. You will cook for me and keep our houses tidy of course, but you must also keep yourself looking pretty for me. I told you that I think you will suit the colour red my dear, so I would like to see a picture of you wearing red. If you cannot do what I ask then I don't think our marriage will be very successful do you my dear?

Anyway, I will make arrangements with my bank to transfer the money, you only need to give me your name, address, date of birth and your bank details (I will need the name and address of your bank, and your account number and sort code). As soon as you send me those things, and the picture I have asked for, I will have the money transferred to you directly.

I will have one of the bedrooms decorated especially for you, do you have a preferred colour scheme?

Your darling Cornelius.

Subject: We must find an alternative to Western Union

Santa baby,

Your excited jubilating filled me with joy - I only wish I could have seen it myself. Thank you for the picture, you are very pretty in pink, but could I ask you not to wear pink again? You remind me too much of my second wife Molly, she used to wear pink all of the time (it showed off her red hair). I did ask you to wear red though. Or boots. I think your beautiful slim legs would look wonderful in boots. Send me a picture of you wearing boots please Santa.

Speaking of pictures, you have never asked for a picture of me! I have attached one of me taken a few years ago by a professional photographer. Please let me know if you would like to see more.

I can't tell you how happy I am to have found you Santa. I have been so lonely since Britney (my fourth wife) died of cancer two years ago.

Now then, about the money. I'm afraid that I must refuse to use Western Union. One of the things you will learn about me Santa is that I am a man of very strong principles. Western Union let me down very badly many years ago. My company was attempting to buy a chemical factory in India in the early 80s. The deal was all but signed and sealed but there were still a couple of officials who needed bribing to complete the paperwork on time (I normally detest such behaviour but that was simply how business worked in India in those days). I spoke to several financial institutions and Western Union gave me the greatest assurances that the money would reach the officials in plenty of time. Needless to say my dear, they failed to do so. Some technical problem or other or so they claimed. The whole deal fell through and then only two years later the plant had a terrible leak and thousands of people were killed or caused serious illness. I blame Western Union entirely for this as my company would have maintained much tighter safety standards!

So no, Santa, I am very sorry but Western Union will not do - I would rather trust my money to the Post Office than Western Union - but I'm sure we can work something out. I'm sure that your friend the good Reverend James has a bank account, or has access to one. I will telephone later this afternoon and speak to him to see if his is amenable to the proposal (I will make a generous donation to his church as gratitude for his assistance of course).

Speaking of money, you mentioned something about clearances and "Passport Camp". Could you explain to me what these are and what they entail? And if you also give me some idea on the fees and charges involved I will add those to the £2K when I transfer it over. I do expect any fiance of mine to have to pay her own way, especially where official matters are concerned.

You get me that picture of you wearing red, or boots (or both would be most delightful to me!) and I will phone the Reverend and arrange for the transfer of the money.

I have passed on your preference of a "milk" colour scheme to my decorator and I am fascinated to see what she will come up with. Oh, I almost forgot to ask - do you have any pets Santa? Claus 14 of the council housing policy is very strict on the types of animals we are allowed to keep as pets, so we need to be careful.

Your devoted Cornelius.

My Love,

Thank you for the good understanding and high discipline in you, I know that I will benefit immensely from that, as you will not allow me to make any mistake with issues of life, already,I am feeling the warmth of your hands, shielding me away from tears and pains.

I am more than happy that I found you too, thinking of you has eased my pains, and I am now full of smiles, and I know that it will not take long before I leave this Place. I pray God that when I come, that you will be happy enough to forget the pains of your lost wife and I will be happy too to forget the pains of my lost Parents. I look forward to meeting you with exceeding joy.

I respect your understanding and decision not to make any more transaction through the Western Union,I am in support of that, because nothing could pay for the Loss of lives and permanent injury suffered by those workers,no amount of money can bring back the dead and restore the happiness of those left to suffer the loss.I hope you discuss with the Reverend, so he can know what to do about the money transfer.

I mentioned camp clearance and international passport, the camp clearance is the the official clearance which enables the refugee to leave the camp finally.I think you will speak with the Reverend James, he will be in better position to explain.

My Love, I do not have any need for pets,as I have not been used to it since child hood, my father never allowed us to keep even teddy bear,But I like teddy bear to be on my bed. As for live pets, I do not need that.

Please I will love to have your Phone number, so that I can give to the Reverend, to call you, so you can call him back. I want to leave this Place as soon as possible, staying one more day here is like spending a whole year. Here is the Reverend's Phone number once again +221 768 679 004 Please try and call him.

Waiting to hear from you soon.

Thank you for being there for me.

Subject: Problem with the telephone system!

Santa my baby,

I tried to phone Reverend James all yesterday afternoon but could not get through. This morning I phoned BT (British Telecom, who provide the telephone infrastructure in this country) and they informed me that there is a technical problem at the International Routing Exchange in the BT Telecom Tower. They are still unsure if it is the switch that deals with most of the Western and Central Africa call routing, or one of the main cables across the English Channel. I gave them a good rollicking I can assure you my dear and they have given me quite a generous compensation package along with a temporary voicemail number that they assure me can receive calls from Africa. Unfortunately this only allows you to leave me a message, but I would very much like to hear your voice my Santa - please call and leave me a message. I am also planning to telephone my MP (Member of Parliament) to make a further complaint. This just is not good enough in this day and age! I always knew it was a terrible idea to privatise the telephone system! But I digress.

This is the number they gave me: +44-0870-874-xxxx It had better work for their sake!

In the meantime, while we wait for BT to identify and repair the problem, I wonder if you could give me the good Reverend's email address (or ask him to email me). We can at least keep this stickit plonking, as we say on the pitch, despite BT's best efforts to keep us apart.

I was very sad to hear that your father did not even allow you a teddy bear when you were a child! What a tough life you have led. Please, if you would like, you can call me Daddy, and I will fill your room with teddy bears!

Speaking of your new room, my decorator, Miss Splatt, is confused over your choice of "milk". She wants me to ask you what kind of milk you prefer - cow, goat, llama or badger milk - all are popular in this country (I have to tell you though dear, I won't have badger milk in this house, it is far too sweet for my tastes, but I do enjoy a splash of llama milk in my morning tea). Personally I cannot see what possible difference it makes, but you know how sensitive these creative types can be.

Send me the Reverend James' email address, and keep sending me pictures of you my dear, you must know that it is all that I have to keep up my spirits until we can be together! (If you can wear boots and/or red for me as well, you know it would make it me really happy!)

Your devoted Daddy.

Santa thiara is like a daughter to me, she is a very responsible girl with the most pitiable fate, she has suffererd in her young life that all my heart yearns for, and all I do is to Pray God to bring her help from Above,so that she could leave this Place and lead a fulfilled life. Her education is very important to her, and she yearns to return to school, so as to complete it, and I hope that you will be of assistance to her in this respect when you help her to leave this Place.

She has told me well about you and I believe that you are that helper sent her by God,My Prayer is That God will bless you exceedingly and abundantly above the expectations of your heart.

She has told me about your readiness to send her some money 2000 British pounds,to help her in organizing her travel documents,so that she can be free to travel to meet you.

As her guardian here, I will love you to explain better to me.I want to hear from you. I have been trying to call the number you sent to her,so that we can speak , but it is not going through.

I will get the account information ready before the end of today, and wait to hear from you first.

I am more than willing to help santa.

Your email has worried me very much. Why do you think you have been attacked? Has anything else happened? Now that you mention it I have just recently received an email from someone called "Lucy" and "Victoria Salifu" who said she was also an orphan living in a refugee camp in Dakar!

Do you know these girls Santa? I have not replied as I was planning to just ignore them (I thought they sounded a little suspect to be honest with you my dear).

I am very concerned now. I think I might have to come over there myself, I don't know if I could rest until I know without doubt that you are safe. Are there any sort of guards or police in your camp? Who can we go to for help?

Please, tell me what you think we should do! I don't think I will be able to sleep a wink!

PS. I do like your latest photograph though my dear.

Subject: Sweet Daddy

My Lovely Daddy,

The Reverend called me to his office now and has not been very happy because of the incident that took Place and the fact that you received two suspicious mails from unknown people. I am really worried. I believe that the mail must have come from the two girls that used the computer after me, and the reverend has banned other people from using his computer; but my worry is that they have your e-mail already and can send mail to you from any where. He said that he will invite the two girls tomorrow, but I am telling him to let them be, because you are a gift from God to me and now that I have known them; I am more careful. It is not physical attack; but an unseen attack because some one deliberately stole my e mail address to deal with me. Please do not mind them and do not respond to their e mail.

My Love,You taking the risk to come here is not going to be the solution, but rather, I want you to do all you can to send the money to me tomorrow,so that I can process my travelling document and come to you as quickly as possible.

I want you to try and work this out with the Reverend, so that every thing will be alright in a short time.I promise you that I am alright, there is no fear in the camp,as there is good security here to guard against any thing. The Reverend is a good guardian.

My Love, Please try and see how to work things out with the Reverend.

I am going back to the hostel now, I will return here in the morning to read your mail. I wish you a very sound night sleep. You are my life, My Love, My Uncle, My father, my brother My world of hope, My universe, you are all that I have in this world to count on and I look up to you with hope and faith that you will not allow me to stay here and suffer more.

I love you always, and I always remain your baby.

Dear Mr Cornelius,

I cannot help the confussion as to what has become of you, and why you have not cared to say any thing to Santa till this morment, and she is suffering and almost died this morning, but for timely intervention of her hostel mates,I was alerted then I have rushed her to the Hospital and I am just coming back from the hospital now.

I want to tell you something frankly, it could have been better you did not come into her life in the first Place that to put her into this miserable condition.

This girl has suffered allot in her life and adding more pain to her life is killing her.

I have to be frank,to tell you that I am not impressed at all about the latest happenings,if you knew you were going to leave her in the middle of the road, then you could have not come into her life in the first place.

I want to say thank you for adding this great burden to my responsibilities.

She is unconcious, the Hostel mates said she fell down in the bath room. She is in the Hospital and the Doctors are doing every thing to save her life. I pray that she survives this.

Good evening Rev. James,

Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Dr. Steve Forum and I am the Director and Chief Medical Consultant of the Stilton Cheesewright Institute for the Medically Insane. Cornelius Tuttle was one our residents.

I am very sorry to inform you that Mr Tuttle died of a stress related heart attack some time around midnight on Tuesday 26th October.

Mr Tuttle has been with us for many years and lately had been making great strides towards some semblance of recovery and consequently had been given a good deal of independence. While Mr Tuttle's cause of death is relatively clear cut, there are some unusual circumstances surrounding it. He was found in his bed clutching a photograph of what appeared to be a dark skinned young woman (the photograph was a poor quality print to begin with and was quite badly creased when we found it). The work "milk" was scrawled across all of the walls of his room, and he had fashioned some kind of sculpture - perhaps of a teddy bear - out of food that he had collected over a matter of days.

I do apologise for the graphic description of the scene but I was desperately hoping to try to piece together the state of Cornelius' mind in his final few days to try and make sense of these disturbing details. My interest is purely professional of course and I can assure you that whatever you tell me will remain bound by Cornelius' doctor-patient confidentiality. Can I ask what exactly was the nature of your relationship with Mr Tuttle?

Finally, I wanted to ask you if you know a "Santa Thiara" - I found your email address next to hers (we have not been able to access Mr Tuttle's emails, but we found several addresses written on various notes and pieces of paper). If you do know this Santa, could you ask them to please also get in touch, as I need to pass them on to Cornelius' solicitor regarding recent changes to his will.

Many thanks again, Rev. James, I hope I have not upset you with this email. I hope to hear back from you soon.

Regards,
Dr. Steve Forum

Dear Dr.Steve Forum,

I have been in shock since the last time I heard from you.I hope you are telling me the truth.because such thing as death is a very sensitive issue that must not be used as subject of humour.

I will love you to send me a picture of the dead body of Mr Tuttle with his face properly shown, and picture of the room as it was with the description you made in your last mail.I want you to tell me about the changes in his will, what exactly did he change in his will that will ,prompt the attention of Santa Thiara? And I will tell you all you need to know.

I reserve my comment till I have heard from you.

Rev. R.James

Reverend James,

Who exactly do you think you are? I am a medical professional, Reverend, I have professional standards and ethics. I do not send photographs of deceased patients to complete strangers, nor do I respond to unfounded demands from same.

I gave you the courtesy, out of my own good will I might add, of informing you that Mr Tuttle had passed away and further gave you the opportunity to inform Santa Thiara, whom I do not know, but supposed that you might (which you appear to have confirmed) that she is being sought by Mr Tuttle's solicitor, Mr Francis Urquhart. The details of Mr Tuttle's Will are not known to me, nor are they my concern. Furthermore, if you are not Santa Thiara's solicitor then I humbly suggest that neither are they any of yours.

If you do not wish to pass on the message then that is entirely your business and none of mine. I will not contact you again.

Yours,
Dr. Steve Forum

Subject: The Last Will and Testament of Cornelius Percival Tuttle

Dear Miss Thiara,

Forgive me for emailing you out of the blue like this but I represent the estate of the late Mr Tuttle. I have been trying to locate you for several weeks now until I finally discovered that Dr Forum, the director of the institution where Mr Tuttle died, had found your email address within Mr Tuttle's personal effects.

Miss Thiara, it is my duty to inform you that Mr Tuttle named you as a beneficiary in his Last Will and Testament.

I am afraid that I cannot discuss anything further until you can provide me some proof of identity. Please reply to me as quickly as possible Miss Thiara so we can ratify Mr Tuttle's wishes before his entire estate passes into Probate and is defaulted to the United Kingdom Government.

Yours,
Francis Urquhart MA QC LLB ASAB

Dear Mr Francis Urquhart,

Thank you for your mail to me,The Reverend told me about one Dr.Steven Forum, requesting my details and to know about my relationship with Mr cornelius Tuttle,But his last mail suggested that he was not genuine.

I knew mr Cornelius Tuttle, and He was a Lover of mine, but we did not see face to face till he died.

If he has named me in his will,Please,I will love to know more about that and what to do to properly inherit the estate,as you so named.

I will wait to hear from you.

Santa.

Miss Thiara,

Thank you for your reply. It is interesting what you say about Dr Forum, he was very reluctant to discuss the matter and I had the impression that he was angry over something.

Still, that is not important. I am glad that I finally found the right person. I would love to discuss your inheritance but as I said, I first need to see a proof of your identity. This is legal requirement, merely a formality, and is nothing personal. Once I am satisfied with your identity we can proceed.

Yours,
Francis Urquhart

Mr. Francis Urquhart

Please if I may ask, I would love to know the identity confirmation you are asking for, because I do not have an international passport. we were on the verge of preparing it when tuttle died.

So, I do not know what else to do in that respect.so, what is your advice in respect of this?

Waiting to hear from you.

Santa.

Subject: Re: Identification

Miss Thiara,

Forgive me, I should have been more specific. While a passport is certainly a valid form of identification it is by no means the only one acceptable. Normally a photographic identification is preferred, for example; Driving Licence, National ID Card, Employee or Student ID Card, or other such document/card.

In the absense of photo ID, then two other corresponding documents can be accepted along with a signed affidavit validating your identity from a professional/dignitary (doctor, teacher, priest, etc.) who has known you personally or professionally for more than twelve months. Such documents may include a Birth Certificate, Medical Card, National Insurance Card, Social Security or other Governmental documents coupled with a household utilities bill, bank statement or other official correspondence showing your current address.

I am sure that we can find something suitable to validate your identity Miss Thiara. If you were preparing to obtain a passport then you would have needed some form of identification for that; there is no reason to believe that the same proof of ID will not also be acceptable in our case.

Yours,
Francis Urquhart

Subject: Do you require assistance?

Miss Thiara,

I would remind you that we should move relatively quickly on this matter. Not only are we running out of time on the probate issue, but I should also point out that in January new tax laws come into play that affect foreign beneficiaries particularly harshly.

Do you require any assistance with your identification?

Yours,
Francis Urquhart
